End of Ireland onto Bug Club Rally 2018

Day 10 - Thursday 14th June 2018 - Monmouth - Staplehurst Kent. (miles 196) Camping £12
Chris was at work and said the wind at his bridge had gusts of 50mph so recommended I went the M4 route as that bridge helps against high winds. Connected my pod and said my goodbyes to Liz and headed to meet Ade at the first service station past Bristol, true enough as I passed over the Welsh/English M4 Bridge I hardly felt any winds. Ade was already there waiting for me and told me someone had asked him if he was at Fishguard last night :). Now pulling a Pod 50mph is the Bugs best speed, Ade kindly led the way and kept me in his rear-view mirror. Off the M4 down to the M3, then along the M25 and on to Staplehurst with just one stop for fuel on the way. Plenty of Bugs already in attendance which is remarkable considering the location and that it is a Thursday. Always nice to meet up with fellow Bug owners. A lovely evening meal at the local pub and I was first to bed as I needed to catch up on some sleep.

Day 11 - Friday 15th June 2018 - Staplehurst - Chatham - Staplehurst (miles 72) Camping £12
Lovely sunny start, quick shave, shower, breakfast and cuppa, now ready for the road run with 16 other Bugs to the Historic Dockyard Chatham. Tour of a submarine and a Rope making experience, just two of the many highlights at this venue. A couple of breakdowns on the way meant we were delayed getting there and returned later than expected. Marsha (my other half) popping up from Hastings was waiting on our return as I had told her we would be back around 5pm, it was 6pm when we got back. Not long later we all went down the local for a meal and a game of Skittles, Tom (Azzy's Brother) from Hastings and Colin from Liverpool did the best out of us all, with Colin eventually winning a tight play off.
Day 12 - Saturday 16th June 2018 - Staplehurst - Folkestone - Staplehurst (miles 102) Camping £12
Another nice day and great road run to the Kent Battle of Britain Museum, 17 bugs on the run, again one of the bugs had a breakdown on route delayed us getting there. Once there a small but very informative museum with more Spitfires there than I have ever seen before, plenty of crashed engines too and war memorabilia, all from the second world war. Back at camp an evening in the outhouse with a Les quiz. Also, a surprise cake for Birthday boy Ivan Smith, celebrating his 60th.
