Day 13 - Sunday 17th June 2018 - Staplehurst to Birmingham (miles 196)
In the morning we were treated to a Spitfire flying over, closely followed by another aircraft that was filming the fighter plane. At 1pm the raffle and prize presentation, with myself winning the furthest travelled (1982 miles) mainly due to the Ireland trip since leaving home. Terry drove all the way from Newquay to hand me the Roger Webb Furthest Travelled shield, many thanks Terry. Marsha won a brolly and some candles in the raffle and me some camping containers, both well chuffed. Time to pack up and hitch up my pod, soon I was saying my goodbyes to everyone and of course to Marsha too. Jimmy and I set off about 2.30pm and from the M20 and onto the M25 it was very slow going, in fact the M25 was a 20mph job all the way with very few 40mph points. One stop at a service station for a deserved break from the slowness. Once on the M40 it was top speed, well 50mph due to me towing anyway. Jimmy turned off at Bicester, leaving me to do the last 60 miles alone. Soon I was home and saying well done to the Euro Bug on achieving yet another fantastic journey.
A few thank you's especially to Brendan McCoy, John McIntyre for putting up with me in Ireland, to Marsha for joining me at the rally, to Azzy for his superb skills in getting my Bug in shape for the trips that I do, to Terry for coming such a long way to present me with the Roger Webb trophy, to Karl for a great Annual Bug rally and of course a massive thanks to Trevor for keeping his old man grounded and giving me much needed company all around Ireland.
Total miles done since leaving home 2352 minimum (can’t be exact as milometer stopped at 90009) I think I have worn it out :).
